Mrs Laffeaty-Sharpe opened her first nursery in Downham Market in 1984. Later, with the addition of the Primary, the school moved to larger premises at Stow Bardolph. Since then the school has received many requests from parents in Downham Market to re-open a nursery in the town, as many of them are unable to transport their children to Stow Bardolph.

In 2009 an appropriate property was found and purchased at 168 Lynn Road. It is a large detached house with parking to the front and garden to the side and rear. It is ideally situated opposite the town playing field in the heart of the new housing developments, ideal for those parents who want to walk or bike to school. The property has been completely renovated, and whilst many of its original features have been maintained, it has been converted into a light and airy nursery.

About us.

There are six rooms, all equipped with different resources to cover all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. On the ground floor there is also a cloakroom, kitchen, office and disabled toilet. There are children’s toilets on both floors.

To the rear of the property there is a large, covered, all weather play area, so that the children can play and learn outside whether it is sunny or wet. The side garden has a large vegetable plot, where the children can plant and grow their own fruit and vegetables and a large lawn with a variety of play equipment.

The school has always traditionally kept pets, which the children help to look after. As the new nursery is in the town we can’t have the same animals as we do in rural Stow Bardolph. However, we do have guinea pigs, and fish. During the spring and summer terms we also study life-cycles by keeping and hatching frogspawn, butterfly chrysalis and hens.
